New €3.2m Extension To Wavin Ireland’s Production Plant In Balbriggan, Co. Dublin.
Speaking at the opening of the new €3.2m extension at the Wavin Ireland production plant in Balbriggan, Co Dublin, Mr Martin Cullen TD, Minister for the Environment and Local Government, referred to exchequer investment on the group water sector - under the Rural Water Programme.

Starting in 1962, group water schemes provided an effective and affordable means of providing piped rural supplies to rural communities. In that year, 461 houses were provided with a group scheme supply. Today more than 150,000 rural households are connected to group schemes. Minister Cullen said that Wavin played a major part in transforming the rural economy and the lifestyles of rural dwellers generally.

“Providing an adequate infrastructure to meet increasing demands is still a major undertaking and a huge commitment. However, in partnership with local authorities, the construction industry, and with the help of companies such as Wavin, I am confident that the challenges will be met,” the Minister said.
